Everything that was in it, on the ground around it

Operatives found it near a small creek, spread across the rocks, brush so thick visibility was down to a few feet. A tactical bag, spilled open, and everything that had been in its pockets scattered around it.

Night vision. A flashlight. A power bank. A pocket knife. A thermal imager.

That's not gear you set down and forget. Whatever happened at ████████ happened fast enough that somebody left a four-figure camera in the dirt.

The tracks going off-trail were not classified. Not quite human. Not quite animal.

We're not making a determination yet.

Here's the part the team couldn't stop talking about, though.

Not fine considering. Fine. After whatever went through that brush, after sitting open on wet rock for however long it sat there, the bag itself came back intact. Every seam. Every zipper. The lab spent half the debrief on the scene and the other half passing it around.

So we made more.
