It’s World Environment Day, so we wanted to share a little about how we’re taking action to protect the environment at Bluestone.

We recognise our operations have an impact, but we’re committed to being a force for good, restoring nature, reducing waste and working towards a more sustainable future.

Nature regeneration

Bluestone has transformed land that was once intensively farmed and low in ecological value into a thriving natural environment. Since opening, long-term conservation efforts have created a diverse mix of habitats, including woodland, meadows, ponds and heathland.

Circular economy

Bluestone is reducing its environmental impact through a circular approach, cutting waste, reducing plastic, donating reusable items to local communities, and we're the first business in the world to recycle nappies. Less than 1% of total waste volume now goes to landfill, creating a more sustainable and low-impact resort.

Decarbonising our operations

Bluestone is committed to reaching Net Zero by 2040, already operating entirely on renewable energy. With on-site solar, low-carbon fuels and an electric vehicle fleet, the resort has cut its market-based carbon footprint for scopes 1 and 2 by more than 96% and continues working towards a fully decarbonised future.

Kings Award For Enterprise

As a result of our efforts, Bluestone has been awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, the first UK holiday resort to receive this honour, recognising its commitment to protecting natural ecosystems, supporting local communities and driving sustainability across the entire business.
