Plus, the can't-miss dishes at BA's Best New Restaurants

Hello! In today’s send:

We love social media, but it can be a limited view of restaurant culture that is otherwise best to experience IRL. Because of this, scouting for our Restaurants issue is not for the meek—we arm ourselves with months of research, hit the road from myriad time zones, and eat many meals each day, for journalism. It’s exhausting, but also a blast. Our editors experience firsthand what trends are actually resonating with diners and chefs. The more we dine, the more data we bring back to the team—meals we would not have experienced if we stuck to the highlight reel that is Instagram. Our staffers’ personal highlights range from Best New Restaurant honorees to stand-out dishes that we are obsessed with. I hope this list inspires your wanderlust for and exploration beyond the marquee names.

The 20 Best Frozen Foods at Trader Joe’s

By Alex Beggs

In the frozen aisles of Trader Joe’s, open coolers make exploration more inviting than the tall doors at the usual grocery store, where you’re filled with shame every second the freezing fog escapes as you ponder fish sticks. A lot of Trader Joe’s frozen foods exist at other stores, with different brand names and less-cute packaging, because thus is the modern condition. But at TJ’s, the always-changing, surprisingly niche frozen offerings feel like a carnival. Enjoy this shopping list (on us!) and take it with you on your next visit.

The Absolute Best Dishes We Ate at New Restaurants in 2026

Surprising no one, Bon Appétit editors eat out. A lot. It’s all in the service of our Best New Restaurants of 2026, where we zigzag the country to spotlight the chefs and restaurants delighting diners with innovation, personality, and storytelling. As we research and debate our list, our team considers the holistic experience of each restaurant, from vibe to deliciousness, but the base unit of measure? It all starts with what arrives on the plate.

From a superlative blood sausage in Los Angeles to a taco blending Lebanese and Mexican flavors in Philadelphia, this smattering of 13 dishes is merely a glimpse at the hundreds we loved over a year of travel. While we can’t possibly feature everything, these dishes stand out for their flavor, technique, and the sheer fact that we can’t stop thinking (or talking) about them. (Enjoy this article, on us—let us know if you’ve been or where else we should go!)
