I have reached that most sought-after milestone for a parent of two small children: the one drop off reality. My youngest started kindergarten this week, joining her second-grade brother, and the excitement from everyone in the house is palpable.


It’s also time to get back into school lunch and a return to their bento boxes that sat empty and dormant all summer. My kids have been very satisfied with their own lunch boxes for a couple years (and they aren’t huge on “change”), so contributor Melissa Knific, herself a mom of a kindergartner and second grader, waded through a pile of lunch-carrying options to find which work best.
