I did a double take when contributor Emily Farris told me she runs her stainless steel Misen sauciers through the dishwasher every night.

Usually, the cardinal rule for stainless steel is that the dishwasher is strictly off limits. Most pans feature an aluminum core exposed at the rim, which harsh detergents degrade over time, leaving the steel edges dangerously sharp.

But Misen does things differently. The cookware brand fully encloses that core in a robust steel layer, protecting it from enzymes and minerals. After a thousand dishwasher cycles, Emily's collection still looks brand new. It's the kind of durability we're always looking for in our product recommendations.

If you've been quietly breaking this rule at home (or you've been wanting to), consider switching to the trusted cookware that can take it.

My Favorite Dishwasher-Safe Cookware Is Stainless Steel (Yes, Really)
