Happy 4th! 🎆

Today is a marathon: sun, crowds, sugar, and fireworks at 9pm. Here's the parent playbook — two minutes, worth a save.

The numbers worth knowing today:

• Sparklers burn at ~2,000°F — hot enough to melt some metals (CPSC)
~14,700 Americans landed in the ER from fireworks last year — 1,300 from sparklers alone
60% of all fireworks injuries happen right around July 4th
• Peak heat + UV runs 11am–3pm — at 90°F, playground equipment hits 120–150°F

The playbook for tonight:

1. Water every ~20 minutes outside — before they say they're thirsty. Kids dehydrate faster than adults.
2. Burn the energy EARLY. 30–60 minutes of hard physical play before dinner = calm kids who make it to the fireworks.
3. Sparkler rules: one at a time, arm's length, a bucket of water for spent ones. Under-5s get glow sticks instead.
4. If a burn happens: cool running water for 10–20 minutes. No ice. No butter. Bigger than a coin — see a doctor.

Why is a play gym company sending you a fireworks guide? Because we're parents first.

And step 2 up there — the early energy burn — is our whole business.

It's also the step that usually loses to a screen: 68% of kids ramp up screen time in summer, averaging 5–7 hours a day.

P.S. Forward this to a parent hosting today — the sparkler rules alone are worth it.
