Now that we've covered techniques for cooking with spices, as well as our favorite recipes, let's jump into the next skill for cooking with spices: SUBSTITUTIONS.

We've put together our favorite ways to reinforce flavors or even completely swap out common ingredients. These substitutions give you more control over flavor, texture and color in your favorite dishes. It's a great way to reinvent a dish you've been cooking forever and to build flavor in a pinch (yes, that's a spice pun).

We encourage you to explore, experiment and taste your way to new combinations. You might even find that perfect substitute that's better than the original.
