The real reason I developed Liquid Iron.

WHY I DEVELOPED LIQUID IRON

For years I worked long hours in London's corporate world. Up early, home late, with just enough time to keep going and nothing left over for anything extra. Ironing was extra.

So the shirts that needed ironing (the ones I actually loved!) got pushed to the back, and I reached for whatever didn't ask anything of me instead. 

There was a blue cotton shirt I loved and wore maybe four times in two years. That's what long hours actually cost me: not just time, but the things I cared about.

It wasn't really about the shirt. It was about proving that looking after yourself and looking put-together don't have to fight each other for the same twenty minutes, not anymore.

I grew up in South Africa during years of water shortages, when you learned fast that care isn't about having more; it's about paying attention to what you already have. That idea stayed with me, even through the years I didn't have time to live by it.

So the goal was never a faster way to iron. It was giving women back the twenty minutes ironing used to take, and everything that time actually means: a slower morning, the shirt you actually wanted to wear, one less thing standing between you and out the door.

I wear the blue shirt again now. Not because I found more time somewhere. Because I got my time (and power) back.
