THE MAKING OF: ART FOR THE EMPRESS

Founder and Creative Director Camilla Franks had kept the Bergl Rooms on her inspiration boards for years before finally stepping inside Schönbrunn Palace in September 2024.

Commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa (mother to Marie Antoinette) and painted by Johann Wenzel Bergl, the rooms move from exotic landscapes to a formal Baroque garden. Within their painted walls, Camilla found the arches, urns, florals, birds and illusionary garden scenes that shaped Art For The Empress.
