Product Spotlight:

625 Loft White Down Pillow

We launched this pillow a few years ago as a limited availability product to help us use some excess materials. It quickly became one of our most popular down pillows. It's a little fuller than the others, so while it's still soft, sinky, and malleable overall, it provides a tad more puff and support.

It's made of quality 625 Loft RDS Certified duck down and a super soft and smooth 500 thread count shell.

Available in Soft (flatter-style, minimally supportive), Firm (puffy, but still very compressible), and Medium.

Our knowledgeable customer service team

Here are some common misconceptions we hear - we'd love to set the record straight and we hope this information helps you in your search for the right pillow!

1. Higher loft pillows are more supportive: All else being equal, a higher loft down pillow will be more supportive than a lower loft down pillow, but only marginally. Down is extremely soft and delicate, with little heft or substance to it. Large, fluffy down clusters still flatten easily with the weight of the head. The fill weight (amount of fill in the pillow in ounces or grams) affects the support level more than the loft.
We've designed our down pillows so that if they're rated the same support level (ie Soft, Medium or Firm), they will be the same firmness. There are two outliers - the 625 Loft White Down Pillow is a tad fuller and firmer than the others, and the White Goose Down Pillow is a tad lighter and flatter than the others.
If you need a firm and supportive pillow, consider a fill type other than down. Feather provides much more support than down due to the springy quills. Microfiber also provides more support than down, as it is springier and traps less air. Down pillows are very soft and sinky, at every loft, and even in the fullest, firmest weight!

2. More expensive pillows are more substantial and supportive: Sure, for any given pillow, the Firm version will be fuller, more supportive and more expensive than the Soft version. The amount of fill in a pillow certainly affects the price. However, loft and species affects the price significantly too. While high loft goose down is quite costly per ounce relative to duck down or other fill types like feather and microfiber, it makes for a very light, soft, and sinky pillow. The price reflects the scarcity of the materials used. Just because a product comes at a high price point doesn't necessarily mean it will be suitable for your needs!

3. If I invest in a 'good' pillow, I will be more comfortable: Investing in a good quality pillow is important, but you'll need to figure out what 'good' means for you. The right fit for you depends on your sleeping position, body size and shape, mattress support, and personal preference - there's no universally comfortable option. Even a pillow that is highly rated may not work for you. What one person finds soft another may find firm and vice versa. Finding the right pillow can be a challenging process. We're here to help!
We offer free returns for unused product, so you can give it a good feel and send it back if it's not for you. If you're really unsure, at the time of purchase, it can help to order a couple of options so you can compare side-by-side and return the one you don't like. We also offer alterations for used product - we can add or remove fill to adjust the support level.
