Happy New Year !

We sincerely hope you had a lovely, safe, cozy holiday and we wish you luck in whatever this new year will bring. As we wrap up 2021, we wanted to share with you our latest article (Everything You Need to Know About Shiitake) as well as our favorite new findings in mushroom news this year.

Mushrooms have been in the spotlight quite a bit recently, and we're excited to share some information around how mushrooms have the ability to improve our mental, physical, and environmental health. After another wild and challenging year, we hope it leaves you with a little sense of hope and fascination for our world.

Birds like truffles

We used to believe that only mammals ate the underground fungi known as truffles, but scientists recently discovered that birds do, too! Because these ground-dwelling birds in Patagonia are eating truffles, they're helping to spread the spores, which has a positive impact on the forest ecosystem. Read more here.

Can medicinal mushrooms help treat COVID-19?

A novel study is currently taking place to test coronavirus patients to see if a combination of agarikon and turkey tail mushrooms can help reduce the need for hospitalization, among other benefits. This double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial is scheduled to continue through to mid-2022. 

"Because mushrooms bind to receptors on human immune cells, they can modulate our immunity — boosting it in some ways and calming it down in others. And this property of mushrooms may also reduce vaccine-related side effects."
