Hi there,
Welcome to this week's Monday Mindset Mastery.
We know, it's Tuesday. After yesterday's bank holiday here in the UK, we're sliding into your inbox a day late, but the thinking is the same: a new week, a fresh start, and a question worth sitting with.
We're starting with a question that sounds simple, but has a way of stopping you in your tracks:
What gives your life meaning?
Not what you think you should say. Not the answer that sounds impressive. But the real answer, the one that lights something up inside you when you say it out loud.
If you're not sure yet, you're in good company. And this week, we're exploring exactly why that question matters so much, and what psychology tells us about how to find the answer.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we're celebrating with an unmissable offer:
✨ Every course in our catalogue for just £27
🎁 Plus, every purchase enters you into a prize draw to win an iPhone Pro

The Science of Purpose
Psychologist Viktor Frankl, writing in the wake of one of history's darkest periods, argued that the search for meaning isn't a luxury; it's a fundamental human need.
His work, and the decades of research it inspired, shows us something remarkable: people who have a strong sense of purpose don't just feel better. They make better decisions, build stronger relationships, show greater resilience in the face of adversity, and even live longer.
Purpose, it turns out, isn't something that happens to you. It's something you build, one intentional choice at a time.
Motivation Isn't One-Size-Fits-All
|
|
Psychologists distinguish between two types of motivation: extrinsic (driven by external rewards like money, status, or approval) and intrinsic (driven by genuine interest, values, and a sense of growth). Research consistently shows that intrinsic motivation leads to deeper satisfaction, better performance, and longer-lasting commitment.
In other words: when what you do aligns with who you are, everything changes.
The challenge? Modern life is very good at pulling us towards extrinsic goals. Social comparison, busy schedules, and the pressure to keep up can quietly drown out the quieter, more meaningful things that actually light us up.
Three Questions to Reconnect With Your Purpose
If you're looking to get clearer on what drives you, try sitting with these this week:
1. What would you do even if no one was watching or praising you for it?
2. When do you feel most fully yourself?
3. What kind of person do you want to look back and say you were?
There are no right answers. But there are your answers, and those are the ones worth chasing.

Purpose is Built in the Small Moments
And here's the thing: purpose rarely arrives in a single lightning bolt moment.
More often, it shows up quietly, in the habits and rituals we return to day after day. The morning routine that grounds you. The practice you keep coming back to, even when life gets busy. The small choices that, over time, add up to something that genuinely feels like yours.
That's why we love this reminder of just how much the everyday stuff matters.
