We love staying in touch with our incredible community, especially in the age of social distancing. So to welcome new Spring members, we hosted our very first online get togethers. Here’s a look at some of our favorite moments.

Scott Harrison, our founder and CEO, hosted the first virtual welcome event for new Spring members. While there were countless stories told, one of the favorites was Helen Apio’s.

“NOW, I AM BEAUTIFUL”

Before her village had access to clean water, Helen used to gather and carry 80 pounds of water in the hot Ugandan sun for her family. She never used any of it for herself. When asked how clean water changed her life, she talks about being able to wash her face and clothes. “Now,” she said, “I am beautiful.”

Partners & Programs

For our second virtual event, we introduced Spring members to our Vice President of Program Operations, Brian Hoyer. Brian gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at how charity: water invests in local organizations, experts, and technology to keep water flowing for years to come.

$995,250 reallocated for coronavirus response

When the pandemic hit, the charity: water team moved quickly to make COVID-19 response funding available for local partners. This funding allowed partners to invest in emergency well maintenance, handwashing stations, and education. One of the most creative ideas came from The Water Trust in Uganda, who used music to educate rural communities about the threat.
