Okay, listen. I need you to keep this between us.
I went to the folks down at HQ and I said, "I want to send a couple of emails to the familia this week. Just from me... so leave Tommy out of it." And they said sure, no problem, man.
So as far as I know, Tommy has no idea this is happening. And I'd like to keep it that way.
Here's the deal.
Tommy Chong is turning 88 years old on May 24th.
Eighty Eight... The double snowman. Two perfect 8s. A number so big and so beautifully round it almost seems made up. But it's not, man. The guy is genuinely, legitimately, almost 88 years old, and I think that deserves something special.
Tommy gives a lot (he's been giving for a long time). He writes you these long emails, he shares his stories, he shows up every single time. And I thought it would be really something if on his birthday, the familia showed up for him.
So here's what I'm asking.
I want to put together a collection of birthday messages from as many of you cousins as possible, and surprise Tommy with them on his birthday. A video, a note, a memory, a joke, whatever you've got.
The team down at HQ told me they'd compile everything and share it with him on May 24th, and I promise you it's going to mean more to him than he'll ever admit out loud.
(He's a crier. I've known him a long time. Trust me on this.)
Here's how they told me you can do it:
Want to leave a video? Grab your phone and record a quick selfie wishing Tommy a happy birthday. Say whatever feels right, whether that's a memory, a thank you, a one-liner "Happy Birthday old man!", anything.
Then open this email on your phone,
click the link below, and upload the video straight from your photo library.
Rather just write something? No problem. Click the link, hit "OK" to skip the video without adding anything, and you'll land on a page where you can type out a message for Tommy instead. Like he says, nice n' easy, man.
Either way, he's going to love it. I know this man better than almost anyone.
His birthday is May 24th, so the sooner the better. Let's make the double snowman feel like the big deal it is.
And remember: this is just between us.
Be good,
