Hey - - it's Uncle Tommy...
I've been taking some time away from all the excitement at Casa Chong with our
SNOWMAN sale over on
Cheechandchong.com...
And I spent a good part of yesterday just reading through more of those birthday messages you all sent in. And man, there are some really beautiful ones in there.
One of the notes from cousin John down in New Orleans caught a really good point... something I've been thinking on lately too. He was talking about the old days in his birthday message, and he said:
"I don't know man, you see everyone now hibernating playing on the phone and computers.
We went everywhere every day and harder on the weekends when we were younger. We rolled to the lake front, park, rollerskating then driving everywhere life was good life was full always man."
I love that, man. "Life was full always."
Eighty-eight sounds like a really big number. When you're a kid, 88 sounds ancient. But I don't feel ancient. And I think John hit the nail on the head as to why.
The secret to staying young isn't really a secret at all. It's just getting out there and continuing to try and live a full life.
It's going to the park, cruising around in the car with your friends, actually experiencing the world instead of just looking at it through a little glass screen.
Anyway, my 88th birthday is tomorrow. The big double snowman.
And if you want to get me a present, here is what I want you to do. I want you to get outside this weekend. Go to the park. Go for a walk. Sit on your porch and just watch the world go by for a little bit without checking the news on your phone.
And if you need to stock up on any of your favorites or something new, my birthday sale is still live. Just use the code
SNOWMAN at checkout on
Cheechandchong.com and you'll get 25% off everything on the site. If you start a new subscription, you get the 25% off automatically.
Keep on keepin' on,
Peace and love,
