A few years ago, if you looked in my makeup bag, you would have found foundation. Probably more than one, if I'm being honest. Like many people, I thought the goal was to create one perfectly even canvas before I could even begin the rest of my makeup.

Over time, though, I realized I was spending a lot of time trying to make my skin look like something it wasn't. Real skin has dimension. It has areas of redness, brightness, shadows, freckles, and texture. That's not something that needs to be erased. It's what makes our faces interesting and uniquely ours.

These days, my routine looks very different.

I start with the Illuminating Primer Stick because hydration has become non-negotiable for me. It gives my skin a comfortable, healthy-looking glow and helps everything that follows blend more seamlessly.

From there, I use my Unify Complexion Multi Pencils only where I need them. A little around my nose, under my eyes, or on any areas where I want a bit more coverage or brightness. Instead of covering my entire face, I'm simply enhancing and balancing what is already there.

I finish with Mattifying Moon Dust, which has become especially important during the warmer months. It helps keep everything in place, reduces excess shine, and gives my skin a polished finish while still letting it look like skin.

What I love most about this routine is how much it has simplified my mornings. I don't need a bottle of foundation. I don't need layers of complexion products or a collection of brushes and sponges. Most importantly, I don't spend my time trying to create a version of myself that doesn't exist.

My makeup takes less time. My skin feels better. And when I look in the mirror, I still see me.

Sometimes the best routine isn't about adding more. It's about understanding what you actually need and letting go of everything you don't.
