Best Pads for Heavy Periods 2023

Kirstin on our Customer Services Team wrote this blog post recently which was inspired after her recent holiday where she found herself managing her very heavy periods with just THREE period pads and ONE pair of period pants.

"Believe it or not, I have just managed my period on a holiday to Greece with just THREE reusable period pads.

At any one time, I was wearing one, drying one and one spare! I also had one pair of period pants for their front waistband to back waistband absorbency which I need overnight. I went with our side snap pants so I could open them out for fast drying.

They all dried in no time on my hotel room balcony. No leaks, no panics all week. My period wasn't due but I dropped these into my case at the last minute just in case" Thank you perimenopause!"

'I've loved these pads, they are so soft and comfortable. I happily wear them during the day on heavy days because I like the sense of security I get knowing there so be no leaks. I use a cup as well and when there's an overflow it can be a bit extreme but these pads were up for it. I like how quickly they absorbed any liquid...I felt dry in these almost immediately.'

Cleaning and caring for your pads

💧 Rinse the pads thoroughly in cold water

💧Soak them in a sink, mucky box or strucket (shown in these images) in cold water with a scoop of oxi stain remover powder to get rid of any lingering stains

💧Put them in the washing machine within a couple of days

💧 Machine wash on 30c or lower for a long wash cycle

⛅ Air dry on an airer, hanging socktopus thingy or outside on the line

* The best detergent for reusable pads is whichever washing powder or laundry detergent you normally use, but avoid eco washing products such as soap nuts or ecoeggs as they don't tend to have the stain removing power necessary!
