I was listening to a podcast.
An entrepreneur was talking about having to give a talk in New York. Big stage. Big egos in the room.
And, as usual, all men—except her.
And she thought:
“I’m not good enough.”
She was wearing flats.
She crossed the street. Bought a pair of heels.
Put them on. I walked onto the stage.
And said: “Now I’m ready.”
Was it the heels?
No.
It was believing in herself.
Impostor syndrome doesn’t disappear. You move through it.
Sometimes you practice more. Sometimes you prepare better. And yes, sometimes you put on a pair of heels.
But if you play small, you feel small. If you take up space, your system adjusts.
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Act like you are.
Your body will catch up fast.
And remember—if you’re in that meeting, on that stage, in that room… It’s because you’ve earned it.
