The end of anon? AI could unmask crypto’s hidden identities

Pseudonymity and privacy have long been a cornerstone of the cryptocurrency space and the cypherpunk movements.

However, as AI models become more powerful, it’s getting easier to unmask pseudonymous identities online. Depending on how much someone has published online under a real name, some AI models can identify users based on their writing styles alone.

This provides a particular conundrum for security researchers, many of whom rely on anonymity to safely and effectively do their jobs.

Web3 security researcher Darkbit said, “For me, I stay anon to go after threat actors. Some can be extremely dangerous. I prefer to avoid any of these people to know who I am or give them any reason to go after me personally.”

Rising exchange supply, low participation, and declining futures activity has led analysts to predict selling pressure below $1,700.

The Nationwide Business Corporate Pension Fund reportedly manages about 21.3 billion yen ($130 million) in assets. Institutional investors in Japan are becoming more willing to enter crypto markets.

South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit is pushing to expand its already extant application of the Travel Rule to even smaller transactions.

It already applies the Travel Rule to crypto transfers above 1 million won ($650).
