Strategy's BTC sale turns Bitcoin treasury into market stress test

Strategy’s disclosure of a 32 BTC sale has sparked debate over whether the company should still be viewed as a one-way Bitcoin accumulation vehicle. Shares of Michael Saylor’s Strategy fell after the move, with Delphi Digital arguing that the sale broke the market’s “never sell” assumption and forced investors to reconsider the company as a leveraged corporate treasury operation shaped by preferred-share obligations, mNAV dynamics, equity issuance and broader balance-sheet needs. Saylor framed the sale as part of active capital management tied to shareholder value and STRC, Strategy’s yield-bearing preferred stock, while the company still remains by far the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder.

Debate on CLARITY Act continues this week as US Senate returns

The US Senate is expected to resume work on the Digital Asset Clarity Act as lawmakers return from the Memorial Day break, with market-structure legislation now facing pressure from both crypto supporters and banking industry critics. The bill would give more authority over digital assets to the federal commodities regulator, but Senate negotiations remain complicated by concerns over stablecoins, tokenized equities and ethics provisions addressing elected officials’ crypto conflicts of interest. Democrats have warned they may withhold support without ethics language, while JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has objected to parts of the bill that he says could allow crypto firms to pay interest on deposits and stablecoin balances.

Bitcoin falls to 2-month low as divergence from equities widens

Bitcoin fell to its lowest level since April 7 as crypto continued to weaken while US equities pushed to record highs. BTC dropped near $70,000 on Coinbase, marking a daily decline of more than 4% and a weekly loss of around 8%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq climbed to new peaks. Analysts cited by Cointelegraph said Bitcoin is trading more like a high-beta risk asset tied to macro sentiment than an independent hedge, while Santiment warned that the performance gap between crypto and equities has become difficult for traders to ignore and could drive capital toward stocks until market sentiment shifts.

Bitcoin price falls under $70K as crypto markets liquidate $800M

Bitcoin broke below $70,000 for the first time in two months as sellers pushed BTC to fresh lows and crypto liquidations neared $800 million over 24 hours. Cointelegraph’s market analysis said Bitcoin failed to follow equities higher, widening the gap between crypto and traditional risk assets as traders watched key support levels around $68,700 to $69,000. Analysts warned that losing those levels could bring the 200-day moving average into play, while the broader market remained pressured by bearish crypto sentiment, long liquidations and uncertainty around macro and geopolitical developments.
