A New Chapter: Colonna and Small's Arrives on Leather Lane

We're absolutely delighted to share some exciting news with you. Come the 4th of September (tomorrow), Colonna and Small’s will make its debut on Leather Lane, London. It's been an eventful 14 years since our Bath shop first came into being, starting as an intimate 5-seat coffee bar before transitioning to its present location, which was previously an art gallery.

At our core, we’ve always been about the coffee and the rich conversations it brews. Our Bath shop was conceived with the idea of putting the spotlight firmly on the coffee experience. Gone was the regular shop menu; in its place, an environment keenly focused on nurturing the speciality coffee experience.

This philosophy has been at the heart of our evolution. By 2015, we embarked on a journey from being a multi-roaster café to roasting our own selection of frequently rotating coffees. Every step, every decision, was informed by the ethos of our original shop.

The industry has evolved and changed a lot. There is a larger engaged audience for boutique specialty coffee than ever before, but I do think a committed focus to a curated, specialist coffee experience is still rare. As a roastery, having a space to present your coffee and ideas to customers is very valuable and rewarding. The shop environment holds a special place for me and although I love the whole coffee industry, cafés can be one of the most special aspects of the industry for me, personally.

Talks of expanding to London have been around for years. It always felt right, like a natural next step. And when the Leather Lane opportunity came knocking, it just felt like home. Our London shop echoes the spirit of our Bath location, but promises its own unique feel and features.

The Bath shop, the roastery and the London site will work together on sharing brewing and tasting experiences as we continuously look to perfect and hone the coffee experience we offer as a business.

The anticipation and warmth we've felt from the London coffee aficionados have been genuinely heartening. We can't wait to welcome you to our new location and share coffee an conversations with you.
