Quick question, and be honest with yourself on it.
When was the last time you shot in anything other than good light?
For most of us the honest answer is never. Every round we have ever fired went downrange under range lights or an afternoon sun.
Now picture your hallway at 2am, when a noise pulls you out of bed and your heart is already going. It is not black in there. There is a streetlight coming through the blinds, a clock on the microwave, a nightlight somebody left on. You can see that a person is standing at the end of the hall.
What you cannot see is who it is or what is in their hands.
That gap is the entire problem, and it is why we call this low light instead of no light. Real darkness is rare. Enough light to see a shape and not enough to make a decision you can live with is everywhere, and it is where a large share of defensive encounters actually happen.
It gets worse. A lot of what people have been taught about defensive lights was built around gear and doctrine that is years out of date. The light on your belt right now may be considerably less capable than you think it is, and some of the advice you have absorbed about how to use it may be working against you.
So we are doing something about it. Free webinar, Thursday, August 13, with Dan Brady.
