This weekend I am headed to Des Moines for GOALS, the Gun Owners Advocacy and Leadership Summit put on by Gun Owners of America. This is the third year they have run it and the first year outside of Knoxville. It also happens to be GOA's 50th anniversary, so they are going bigger than usual.
I have been to both of the previous two. If you have never been, the short version is a packed main stage, expert panels, hands on workshops, and an exhibitor floor with most of the names you would actually want to see under one roof. This year's speaker list includes Thomas Massie, Brandon Herrera, Lena Miculek, John Lovell, Nick Freitas, Pete Brownell, and Gen. Flynn, among a lot of others.
If you are within driving distance, go
Des Moines is a drive and not a flight for a lot of you. If you are in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, or Wisconsin, you can do this over a weekend without much trouble.
The exhibitor floor is open to the public Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, with the opening ceremony at 9am both mornings. If you are already a GOA member, your membership covers admission. If you are not, you can join and register at the same time.
Come find me
I will be there Friday, which is a media and industry day, and all day Saturday. I am not there Sunday. I am not exhibiting this year either, so there is no booth to look for. I am just walking the floor like everybody else.
