Week two of National Safety Month, and this week's topic is the one that quietly prevents tragedies: how you store your guns when you're not carrying them.

Just to manage expectations we don't really sell gun safes anymore. The math stopped working: we couldn't come close to the prices you'll find on Amazon, and we'd rather just tell you that than pretend otherwise.

So there's nothing for sale below. Just the information — because secure storage is one of the highest-leverage decisions you make as a gun owner, no matter where you end up buying the hardware.

Five resources, roughly in the order I'd think them through:

1. A Reminder To Properly Secure Your Firearms

Start here for the big picture, why storage matters more than most owners give it credit for, and what "properly secured" actually means in practice.
👉 Read it here

2. Why You Shouldn't Keep the Gun on the Night Stand

The most common home-storage habit, and the case against it — plus how a quick-access safe answers the "but I need it fast" objection without leaving a gun out in the open. Includes a short video.
👉 Read it here

3. Quick Access Handgun Safe Buyers Guide

Once you've decided to get a safe, this is how to actually choose one: locking styles, construction, and where to stage it. Read it before you spend a dollar, on Amazon or anywhere else.
👉 Read it here

4. Vehicle Firearm Storage and Secure Transportation

Storage doesn't end in the house. Where to secure a gun in the car, and the everyday situations, the post office, the school pickup line, the state line, that force the question whether you've planned for it or not.
👉 Read it here

5. The Status and Styles of Secure Storage Gun Laws

And the part nobody enjoys but everybody should know: secure-storage law varies a lot from state to state. A clear look at the different approaches and where things stand.
👉 Read it here

Storage isn't the exciting part of owning a gun. It's the part that keeps the exciting parts from ever becoming the worst day of your life. Worth an afternoon.

Stay safe,

P.S.
If there are kids in your home, yours or just visiting, read the night-stand piece first. It's the most common mistake of the bunch, and the easiest one to fix this week.
