The July Podcast Update

Normally the last Sunday of the month is when I hand you a full recap of everything we published on the Concealed Carry Podcast. This month that recap is short, and I would rather tell you why than pretend otherwise.

The Independence Day holiday landed right in the middle of our production schedule and knocked a chunk out of it. Between travel, time with family, and a studio that was empty for most of that stretch, we published one episode in July instead of four. The one we did put out was built specifically for that week, and honestly it is one I am glad we took the time to do right.

August is a different story. More on that below.

The One July Episode

S14E1 Freedom Bought, Freedom Maintained

S14E1 | Season 14 Premiere

Freedom Bought, Freedom Maintained: 700 Years of Receipts

We trace the history of the right to keep and bear arms from English law in the 1300s all the way through modern U.S. Supreme Court cases. If you have ever had someone tell you this right is a recent American invention, this episode is 700 years of receipts that say otherwise. A fitting way to open Season 14, and a fitting way to spend the week we celebrate independence.

Coming in August

A while back we covered a defensive shooting here on the podcast. We spoke about it the way we always do, from the outside looking in, working off reports and whatever facts were available at the time.

Next month you are going to hear it from the man who was actually there. His decisions, what he was thinking, what happened in the seconds that mattered, and everything that came afterward that nobody warns you about. I have been looking forward to this conversation for a long time, and I think it is going to stick with you.

That is not the only thing we have lined up for August either. Make sure you are subscribed so you do not have to go looking for it.

In Case You Missed It

Louisiana Under 21 Carry Lawsuit: The School Zone Trap

Pool v. Hodges Louisiana under 21 carry lawsuit

On July 22, 2026, the Firearms Policy Coalition sued Louisiana over its rule that you have to be 21 to get a concealed handgun permit. On the surface that reads like a narrow complaint about young adults. It is not. There is a second layer to this one involving school zones that has implications well beyond the under 21 crowd, and it is worth understanding before this case gets talked about somewhere else.

P.S. The August guest episode is the one I would hate for you to miss. It is a very different thing to hear a man describe his own defensive shooting than it is to read about it. Take twenty seconds now and hit subscribe on whatever app you use, and it will simply be waiting for you.
