A few thoughts on Memorial Day. Why Memorial Day hits different as I get older.

This weekend is Memorial Day, and your inbox is probably already filling up with sales tied to the holiday. We're not running one.

That's not a knock on anyone who is. But Memorial Day, at its core, isn't about discounts. It's about remembering the people who made it possible for us to live the way we do — and carry the way we do.

My father served in the Army. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII — one Army, one Navy. I grew up hearing pieces of their stories the way kids do, without really understanding what they meant. The older I get, the more I think about it. About where I come from. About the choices and sacrifices that set the table for the life I have now.

And honestly, the older I get, the more I think the other direction too — the legacy I'll leave for my children, and someday my grandchildren. What did I stand for? What did I teach them? What will they remember?

Memorial Day is a chance to sit with both of those questions. To look backward with gratitude, and forward with intention.

Take a minute this weekend to learn more about a long past relative, or remember them, or tell their story to someone younger. That's how legacies stay alive.

Thank you for being part of this community.

P.S. We're not running a Memorial Day sale, but our monthly deals page rotates a fresh set of products each month, and May is nearly done. Worth a look before the calendar flips. 👉 See what's on sale this month
