It’s a nice day for a white wedding … as Billy Idol wrote.
There is something about a white trouser suit, especially on a woman, that makes me think of Bianca, Angelica, those incredibly stylish women of the seventies, of Helmut Newton and Terry O’Neill photographs, of the Hôtel du Cap, or perhaps the Beverly Hills Hotel.
I have always wanted to make a white suit, and finally, this summer, we have introduced our very own. Designed by Marc Audibet, the Bianca combines the structure of traditional tailoring with a softer ease; the jacket falls gently on the shoulder, whilst the effortlessly relaxed trousers create an elegant silhouette. Crafted from sublime Italian cotton crêpe, this fabric, a complete delight to wear, moves with beautiful fluidity.
I was married in a black Joseph velvet trouser suit because it was December, but secretly I would have loved the white suit if we had thought to tie the knot sooner. Sexy as hell, yet with a semblance of formality. Perfect for a wedding, for a man or a woman, but equally for a splendid drive through the countryside to a long summer lunch that drifts into the evening.
