We thought we'd spend the day wandering the Old Town, but Valencia had other plans. Before long, we were moving between the bustling stalls of Mercado Central, leafy squares, and the winding streets of El Carmen, where colorful façades seemed to reveal something new around every corner. Somewhere between lingering over lunch and wandering a little farther than we'd planned, the city quietly rewrote our expectations.

We came to Palma de Mallorca for the coastline, but it was the winding roads into the Serra de Tramuntana that kept drawing us farther inland. Stone villages sat quietly beneath honey-colored peaks, while olive groves and citrus trees gave way to sweeping views of the sea we'd just left behind. Somewhere along the way, the afternoon became less about reaching any particular destination and more about enjoying every turn it took.

The day really started when we crossed the Ponte Vecchio. By the time we reached Piazza della Signoria, we'd wandered through tucked-away streets, lingered over coffee, and spent as much time people-watching as sightseeing. We never once felt the need to check the time. By day's end, it wasn't the landmarks we'd remember most – it was the slower moments we'd spent in between them.
