Hi, Love…

 

At the end of interviews people often get asked, “What's the one message you have for the world?” No pressure. 

 

I used to inner eye-roll at this question. But I just nailed my winning answer and now I hope I get asked in the next interview and the next.
 

Here's my billboard to humanity:

Darling… your unmet longings are not a punishment.

 

Our unmet longings are many things. Divine delays. Dares. Beautiful karma. Eggs. Seedlings.

 

But… and…

You know, I've been analyzing the nature of desire for a long time. And I've had deep struggles with monk-considerations, house holder life, Netflix and chillin', loving hot love, abundance, the lonelies, the scriptures, the cleansing, the dancing, the down dogs, and all the training I've done to circumnavigate downward spirals.

 

But I've recently slipped out of whatever that portal was—let's call it my former frame of consciousness. Just like a baby after a three-year labour. Like Neo getting ejected from his goo pod of illusion.

And here's what I got: Joy down in my Soul.

 

And I no longer see my unmet longings—of which there are a sacred few—as a punishment, as a withholding that a darker side of life was able to enforce.

 

But compassion for our human desires is what makes this life holy. 

 

I've come right 'round to cherishing my desires with a fierce grace.
