After more than 75 years, Wohlford & Company is the definitive reboot of the Dayton Boots brand. We have been fighting an uphill battle to restore Dayton's rich heritage to its rightful place, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to do so. We regret that it has come to this. We have tried everything in our power to resolve the issues at hand, but a combination of bad decisions by less than inspired people has tarnished the Dayton Boots name.
A fresh start is necessary. A new company with new owners, including the grandson of the founder, takes its name from the past as we look to the future. Wohlford & Company is dedicated to boot-making at the historic Dayton Boots factory and being a vibrant part of the East Vancouver creative maker community.
In 1946, Charlie Wohlford founded Dayton boots with his son Wayne. We are proud to announce that we will continue to design and build boots under the Wohlford name. Ray Wohlford, the grandson of Charlie and son of Wayne, will be integral to our reboot. Ray grew up in the factory and it was his sole focus for almost 20 years ending in 2000. Ray represents three generations of legendary boot-making, and we are proud to have his help keeping one foot firmly planted in our heritage and the other stepping towards the future.
Wohlford & Company has assembled a dedicated team of talented boot designers and makers. Together we will preserve the best of our spirit and heritage while reinvigorating the brand’s dedication to heirloom quality and classic styling. Wohlford will continue to design and manufacture boots at the Historic Dayton Boot Factory on East Hastings in Vancouver. We will be renovating the factory showroom as well and hope to re-open the Lumbermen’s Social Club in the near future.
We hope you join us in celebrating this piece of Canadian history and will continue to support us through this exciting transition.
