CrossFit games on this weekend + how to train for your session

Hi there,
The CrossFit Games are happening this weekend in California, so I through I’d be sharing some tips on how to perform better during your CrossFit workouts if that’s your thing.
Warm up like you mean it. Ten minutes, every session. Not a token two minutes on the rower. Raise your heart rate, move through the ranges you're about to load. Most of the small injuries I've picked up over the years came from sessions I rushed the warm-up on. Every single time.
Eat before you train, not after you're already hungry. If you're rolling into a session running on a coffee and vibes, you're going to have a rubbish workout and blame the programming. Something small an hour or two before (banana, oats, whatever works for you). Don't overcomplicate it.
Hydrate before, not just during. By the time you feel thirsty mid-session, you're already behind. Sip through the day. And on hot sessions or anything over 45 minutes, electrolytes matter: you lose sodium, potassium, magnesium through sweat, and once those drop you feel flat, heavy, unfocused. Check out our top rated electrolytes here.
Pace like the session's longer than it is. Nearly everyone goes out too hot. The people who finish strong are the ones who felt slightly too easy in round one. You can always pick it up. You can't always come back.
On supplements, keep it simple:
Protein around the session. Whey's the easiest. I've been on XL Whey for ages
Creatine, 3g-5g a day, every day
Electrolytes on any longer or hotter session
And don’t forget sleep.
Track something. Anything. Weights, times, how you felt, sleep. Doesn't have to be complicated. You can't improve what you're not paying attention to, and memory is a terrible coach.
One last thing. The CrossFit Games are on this weekend out in California. If you fancy watching the best in the world do it, the CrossFit Games YouTube channel streams the whole thing for free.
Enjoy the weekend and train hard.
