Alaska Airlines Opens Two New Gateways to Honolulu
|
|
Alaska Airlines already flies nonstop to Honolulu from Seattle and Portland, its two main Pacific Northwest gateways. Starting this December (I assume, as a Christmas gift to travelers), Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Washington, get to join that list for the first time.
Boise's new route to Honolulu (HNL) begins December 17, running daily through March 21, and Spokane's (GEG) begins December 19 with once-a-week Saturday service through April 17. Both will fly on a single-aisle Boeing 737 Max with 16 seats in First Class, 42 in Premium, and 138 in the Main Cabin. Alaska's partner carrier, Hawaiian Airlines, is also adding to the schedule with three more weekly flights to its existing Las Vegas to Honolulu route during winter and spring.
If you’re interested in the new Boise or Spokane flights, it's best to book soon. I saw some one-way fares from Boise to Honolulu hovering around $345, and that’s, of course, for dates after the route launch. Spokane's flights are only once a week, so seats there will go faster, and prices on both routes will likely climb as December and the holidays get closer.

JetBlue Partners With ClarityPay to Let You Pay for Flights Over Time

JetBlue teamed up with ClarityPay so you can book now and let future you handle the bill in installments, like an adult. Travelers can still earn TrueBlue points the whole time, with the pitch being flexibility.
💸 Here's how it works:
When checking out, you can pick a payment plan that best fits your budget and pretend the flight is somehow cheaper because it's spread across four payments. I've totally done this before, and it felt great, as long as your payments are on time. JetBlue is just catching up to Delta, United, and American Airlines here. Funny timing, too: this drops right after Citi cut JetBlue loose as a points partner, suggesting JetBlue is looking to offset that loss with new ways to keep customers engaged.
ClarityPay's 0% APR only applies if you book by August 15 and pay it off within 12 months. If you miss that window or a payment, rates jump as high as 36%. Nearly half of BNPL (buy now, pay later) users have paid late at least once, and 54% say they've regretted a BNPL purchase. I've done it myself before, but I highly advise being realistic with yourself about your ability to pay on time; otherwise, it's a risky way to fund a vacation you can't actually afford yet.
Before you finance a flight, run the math with a compound interest calculator, only take out one loan at a time, and skip it entirely if you're booking on impulse. If your credit card offers a lower rate than ClarityPay's standard terms, that's usually the safer bet.

DFW Just Got a New Sapphire Lounge, And It's Too Good
|
|
Chase's new Sapphire Lounge opens today in Dallas Fort Worth's Terminal D, and it did not come to play small. It measures 18,000 square feet, complete with a fireplace, rest pods for much-needed naps, showers, and a Face Haus facial menu. There's also a private nursing room and a family room, so this is a lounge that has genuinely thought through more life stages than I have.
The real headline, and one I feel like a lot of people will be excited about, is the whiskey lounge. This is a first for Chase, and it includes guided pairings and a barrel exclusive to this location. The food leans heavily into Texas culture (as it should), with blue corn butterscotch pancakes and slab bacon with cheddar grits, plus coffee from a Fort Worth roaster and drinks from local producers. Two large murals by a Dallas artist round it out, in case you needed reminding which state you're in. Everything truly is bigger in Texas, y'all!
Sapphire Reserve cardholders and a short list of premium cards get in free, unlimited, with two guests included. Everyone else gets one free visit a year through Priority Pass before a $75 fee kicks in. DFW's Terminal D already has the Capital One Lounge, the Amex Centurion Lounge, and two Plaza Premium locations, so of course, Chase had to puff its chest out, especially with the whiskey lounge.
