I recently saw this list of America’s most and least stressed cities, and it turns out I’m visiting the #1 most stressed-out city very soon.
I’ll report back and let you all know if it affects me as a tourist. For now, all I know is that I’ll be happy if I’m eating the city’s famed pizza style and have some Eminem blasting in my headphones.

American and Hyatt End Their Partnership–What it Means for You
|

Bad news for any of you who are American or Hyatt loyalists: The two companies just announced that they will be ending their partnership by 2027.
Over the years, the partnership had some great benefits for anyone who linked their accounts, including reciprocal points, bonus miles, and a fast track to elite status match. Overall, I would say that program was pretty average, but a huge plus for anyone who flies with American a lot.
It seems like Hyatt must have known that the partnership was coming to an end when they announced a new deal with Air Canada a few months ago. It looks like they wanted to have a backup airline for when the day finally came.
🏨 What does this mean for travelers?
The good news is that there is no immediate impact or interruption on redeeming awards and benefits through the end of the year.
If you do want to preserve any benefits, make sure you link your account by November 15 so you can continue earning awards through February 28, 2027. For now, (if your account is linked) you will continue to earn AAdvantage awards on stays.
The bigger question to consider is how this will affect your points strategy. I would make sure that you transfer or use any points if possible. And, if you need a card for hotel earning, I recommend opening a general card that can earn on both flights and hotels that you frequently book with.

Where to Travel in November on a Budget
|

Even though I’m eagerly awaiting the fall leaves and spooky season in October, now is actually the best time to be looking at November trips.
If you want the cheapest November trip, I’d look at Chiang Mai, Oaxaca, Bangkok, and Hanoi first. The reason is simple: early to mid-November is usually much cheaper than Thanksgiving week, making it one of the best cheap places to visit in October and beyond. One 2025 study found average domestic one-way fares at $178 in early November versus $276 during the 10-day Thanksgiving window – a 55% jump.
Here’s the short version:
🇲🇽 I’d pick Oaxaca for the best mix of short flight + low daily costs
🇹🇭 Plan a trip to Chiang Mai for one of the lowest total trip costs
🇲🇦 Pick Marrakech for a strong mix of mild weather + fair airfare + low daily spend
🇪🇸 Go for Seville if you want a Euro-trip with milder November weather
💸 I’d pick Bangkok, Hanoi, or Siem Reap if I cared more about cheap daily spending than flight length
🗓️ And definitely avoid pushing dates into Thanksgiving week if you want the best fare
Just remember, the best November deal isn’t always the place with the lowest airfare. There are other factors you’ll definitely want to take into consideration.

This is Why I Always Book a Refundable Hotel–How I Saved $200
|

I wish I was the type of person who gets excited to research hotels for a trip, but in all honesty, I get overwhelmed pretty easily. I love looking at all the designs, but then I get bogged down in location, amenities, prices, and more, and more, and more.
This month I have a wedding reception I’ll be traveling for, and I booked my hotel a couple of weeks ago. I jumped on it because prices were getting pretty steep and I didn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a subpar hotel. I ended up booking a hotel that looks fine but is super close to where I’ll be for the reception.
Still, I’ve been keeping my eye on hotels, and my points have been stacking up in the meantime. Then, last night, I decided to poke around and see what other hotel deals were out there and figured I should check the Chase Travel portal first to see if there are any deals. Sure enough, there was.
I forgot about The Edit by Chase Sapphire, where cardholders can save big on hand-picked hotels and get extra perks. That’s when I saw there were massive savings available on a gorgeous IHG Hotel near my location. The location is typically pretty expensive, but it was a part of Chase’s Points Boost, so my points went a lot farther.
The best part? I could book it for free with my points and get a $100 property credit at the on-site restaurant. That means I’ll be staying for free and eating for free.
In the end, I’ll also be saving $200 because I was able to get a refund on the original hotel I booked. And this is why I always book a refundable hotel, even if it costs a little bit more to do so. That flexibility means I saved a lot more and will have a much nicer stay.
