Well, I was today years old when I found out that sweating can trigger an extra TSA screening and pat-down.

Luckily, I’m not speaking from personal experience. I learned this from a Travel+Leisure article, but I am a little shocked this didn’t happen to me after experiencing the humidity of New Orleans last week.

I’m alerting you all to this, not because there’s much you can do about it but just to warn you that working up a sweat rushing to the airport might make going through security take even longer.

In today’s edition:

  • An easy way to get a Southwest Companion Pass

  • Expedia's Labor Day Sale

  • Plan a trip to Napa and get 15% off

Isn’t it ironic?

Book a Southwest Flight This Week and Get a Companion Pass

I always try to alert you guys when Southwest has its Companion Pass promos because it’s too good of a deal to pass up. This time, you have until August 6, 2026 to jump on this deal.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Companion Pass, it means you get to designate one person to fly with you for free (plus minimal fees that are usually around $6). Though Southwest has been through many changes this year, I’m glad they are still sticking with the Companion Pass.

✈️ Here’s how the Companion Pass promo works:

  • Register for the promotion by clicking here.

  • Purchase a round-trip ticket or two one-way tickets between now and Thursday, August 6. (Pro tip: This is a pretty fast turnaround, but remember that you can always cancel an existing trip and rebook it with vouchers if you don’t have an imminent trip you need to book).

  • Remember, you must travel by November 18, 2026, so keep that in mind when you’re booking the trip. You can book with cash, points, or a mix of both.

  • From there, you’ll earn a promotional Companion Pass that will be valid for travel between January 5, 2027 and March 3, 2027, and you can change your companion up to three times during that period.

Simply put: Book a trip, get a Companion Pass. It’s that easy, and if you fly with Southwest a few times a year, this is a no-brainer.

Expedia’s Labor Day Sale: Save 30% (or More) on Hotels

I cannot believe we are already almost through the first week of August. That means Labor Day is quickly approaching, but it’s not too late to book that last-minute trip.

The good news is that Expedia just launched its Labor Day Sale and is offering 30 percent off on hotels in trending destinations. You can book a stay in cities like Las Vegas, Orlando, New York, San Diego, and even Tokyo.

Click here to peruse the deals they have going for September 4-7, or you can enter the destination if you already have a trip booked or a place in mind.

The 30 percent is just the base discount. Just based on a quick glance, I saw some hotels for as much as 56 percent off!

Just don’t delay booking this deal because it’s unclear as to how long it will last. And, as always, when booking a hotel, I recommend booking one that can be refunded if your plans change or you find a better deal. However, these deals might be tough to beat.

Save 15% On Your Visit to Napa Valley

If you’ve been debating where to take your next vacation, might I suggest Napa Valley as a quick summer trip? It’s the perfect weekend destination in a lot of ways—there’s plenty to do, but it’s still quaint, there are increased flight routes during the summer (so it’s easier to get to), and it’s a serene and relaxing setting.

Whether you’ve been or it’s your first time, I also recommend stopping by the newly renovated Robert Mondavi Winery. The space just reopened after a three-year renovation, and aside from the stunning new design, Robert Mondavi Winery also has a whole new set of experiential offerings.

Now, at the winery, you can choose from three different tastings:

  • The Mondavi Table, which features three courses paired with wine and is an intimate family-style tasting experience.

  • There is also the Pioneer Tasting, which gets more in-depth about the art of winemaking, if that’s your jam.

  • Lastly, there is the Legend Tasting Tour, which is a private, expert-led tour of the winery, for the true oenophile.

The best part? If you book now through August 31, you can get 15 percent off with code NAPAVALLEY.

If you can’t quite make it to Napa this summer, don’t worry, that same code applies to online wine purchases. Visit robertmondaviwinery.com now through August 31, 2026, and get 15 percent off wine purchases.
