Memorial Day weekend just passed us, and if you took the weekend to relax…
GOOD.
I did too.
But if you're anything like me, you might have thought at a few points:
"Do I deserve a break?"
"Should I be working instead?"
"Can I afford to take time off?"
Let me stop you right there (the same way I had to stop myself).
Rest is not a luxury.
It's not something you earn.
It's a requirement.
You don't need to "deserve" a day off.
You don't need to justify taking a long weekend.
You don't need to prove you've worked hard enough to rest.
Rest is part of sustainability.
And if you want to build wealth, manage money well, and actually enjoy your life...
You need to let yourself rest without guilt.
I know that's hard.
Especially if you grew up like I did: believing that productivity = worth.
That time off = laziness.
That rest is something you only get after you've "earned it."
But that belief will burn you out.
And burnout costs money.
It costs you clarity, energy, focus, and decision-making ability—all the things you need to manage money well.
So next time you have a day to rest and relax, I want you to try something:
Don’t try to prove you deserve it.
Take the day off unapologetically.
Don't check work emails.
Don't stress about what you "should" be doing.
Just be.
Your money will still be there.
Your goals will still be there.
But you'll show up so much better if you actually let yourself recharge.
Rest isn't the opposite of productivity.
It's what makes productivity sustainable.
With love,
Laurie-Anne 💛
