From the mountains of Pakistan to the Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan, Lake Song Kol in Kyrgyzstan, and the futuristic skyline of Astana, this is overland travel at its most ambitious. Travel on an extraordinary overland expedition through Central Asia, journeying across seven countries along the ancient Silk Road — from Pakistan and Afghanistan to the deserts of Turkmenistan, the historic cities of Uzbekistan, the mountain landscapes of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and ending in modern Kazakhstan.

Journey from Ashgabat to Astana across Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Explore Silk Road gems like Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand, traverse the Pamir Highway, camp by Lake Song‑Kol, and marvel at Charyn Canyon and Kaindy Lake — all from a custom-built Dragoman overland truck.

From Lahore you climb the Karakoram Highway, stopping at Fairy Meadows for views of Nanga Parbat, before crossing the Khyber Pass into Afghanistan. You’ll visit Kabul, Bamyan, and the Band-e Amir Lakes, then head into Turkmenistan via Merv, finishing in the marble‑bright city of Ashgabat.

Our 2026 7 Stans expedition is now well underway. The group kicked things off in Pakistan, spending the first couple of weeks making their way north through the Karakoram range and taking in some seriously impressive scenery along the way.

They’ve now crossed into Afghanistan, where the group have received a warm welcome and have been getting a real insight into the country, its history, and life on the road there. By all accounts it’s been a fascinating start to the journey, with plenty of memorable moments already and a lot more still to come.
