Dwell Open House 2026: Three New Showstopping Homes

Dear Dwell Readers,

I couldn’t be happier to share that Dwell’s Open House: Los Angeles event is returning this year with three new homes to tour in person. As with last year’s edition, the tour will be a celebration of the city’s history of architectural innovation and ambition.

At last year’s Dwell Open House, we invited readers into a rare mix of private residences that we’ve featured in our pages. In Silver Lake, architect Richard Stampton reworked a 1920s house for himself and his wife. In Mount Washington, Taalman Architecture, Terremoto, and interior designer Kathryn McCullough turned a compact cabin into a family retreat. In San Marino, Fung + Blatt developed multiple pavilions around a hillside midcentury home. 

The homes on this year’s tour are equally impressive: EYRC Architects perched a daring house in Silver Lake on a hillside on one of the steepest streets in Los Angeles. Also in Silver Lake, the new owners of a sculptural house by Fritz Haeg gave it a refresh—but kept it weird. And in Palms, celebrated architect Clive Wilkinson drew on the best of L.A. living for his family’s new home. They all show architects asserting new ideas about what a home can be.
