Allen Jones – The Lost Murals

Presenting a collection of 5 limited edition silkscreen prints

In the 1980s and 1990s, the renowned Pop artist Allen Jones RA (b.1937) was commissioned to paint a number of murals. Monumental in size, some were painted across multiple panels to transform the interiors of prestigious restaurants, while others adorned the sides of buildings.

Working closely with Jones, five of these impressive murals have been recreated as a set of separate, limited edition silkscreen prints. The artist used many of the original notes and sketches to recreate The Lost Murals.

The first limited editions in The Lost Murals collection to be released will be Mezzo and Ivy. Two later editions will celebrate both a large-scale mural on the side of two buildings overlooking a railway track in Basel and a billboard overlooking the railway track in Zurich. The final limited edition celebrates a mural commissioned for display along a spiral stairway between several decks of a private yacht.

Mezzo, Allen Jones

Mezzo

The original Mezzo mural was commissioned by Terance Conran in 1995 for his famed Soho restaurant of the same title. The original 2.72-metre-long mural is now reinvented as this radiant 42 colour silkscreen print.

Reflecting the panoramic dimensions of the original 6 panel mural, the artwork is printed across 6 separate hand-torn sheets of 410gsm Somerset Rag paper. A limited edition of 20, Allen’s working notes and drawings are printed on the reverse, documenting the history of the artwork.

Ivy, Allen Jones

Ivy

Measuring an impressive 4.6 metres-long, the original Ivy mural was commissioned in 1995 for the celebrated restaurant The Ivy, in Covent Garden. A limited edition of 20, the reimagined 42 colour silkscreen print is created across 3 separate hand-torn sheets of 410gsm Somerset Rag paper and feature Allen’s historic working notes and drawings printed on the reverse.

All editions are signed and numbered by the artist and come presented in a bespoke portfolio, with assemblage and bespoke framing available.
