Summer habits your Qi will love

Hi ,
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is the season of Fire and Heart energy. Heat rises, digestion weakens, and your Qi and blood are working harder than usual just to keep up, which can leave you feeling exhausted without the right support.
If you’re like me and just got through those scorching hot East Coast days, you might be wondering how to better prepare for this summer.
Here’s how the Elix team and I thrive in the summer:
1. Touch grass (actually)
I love walking barefoot on grass or sand. It helps prevent the kind of heat accumulation that leads to irritability, insomnia, or flushing. The soles of your feet are one of the body's main points for releasing excess heat!
2. Bring a scarf
Lulu, our founder, can always be found with a scarf, even on 100 degree days. Cold air hits the back of your neck first, and that's a major way to disrupt your Qi. Once cold gets in, it can show up as tension, fatigue, and sluggishness that will ruin a good summer day.
3. Skip the iced drinks
Julie, our Lead TCM practitioner, drinks hot tea all year. Cold drinks dampen your digestive fire, which is behind a lot of summer bloating, low energy, and brain fog. If you're not giving up iced coffee, add Ginger like in our Ginger Aide to add warmth back.
The best ritual for easy summer periods?
Heat depletes the Qi and blood your cycle depends on. Your personalized Cycle Balance formula replenishes it, so your period stays lighter, more regular, and a lot less disruptive all summer long.
With love,
Maddie
