The VideoGen update that changes everything + a stacked Feb

February brought the VideoGen update we've been waiting for: you can now edit your AI-generated videos after generating them. Change the lighting, swap a character, adapt to any aspect ratio, all while keeping what already works. Three new features — Modify, Change Subject, and Reframe — one massive workflow shift.

Beyond that, the Envato experience got a round of upgrades that make finding and licensing assets noticeably faster. We published a stack of new tutorials on the blog. We broke down what the 2026 Oscar Best Picture nominees reveal about where creative culture is headed. And learnt how to build a fully voiced NPC from scratch using Envato's AI tools.

Let's get into it.

#1: Stop regenerating. Start editing.

VideoGen's three new editing features end the regeneration spiral. Modify lets you describe changes to an existing generation while preserving composition and motion. Change Subject swaps a character or object via reference image, keeping everything else locked. And Reframe adapts a finished video to any of seven aspect ratios, using your prompts to intelligently fill any new frame space. Your generations have value now, and your tools finally help you build on them. 

#2: The Envato experience just got sharper

A batch of updates landed this month. Photo search now filters by number of people, mood, time of day, setting, and context. Video categories got visual filters for setting and theme. All 4K stock video and motion graphics now come with 1080p download options. Workspaces let you duplicate projects and bulk license multiple assets in one go. You now have more control over how you license your downloads. And yes, light mode is here!

We've been busy on the new and improved Envato blog, and the latest batch of tutorials covers real workflows you can put to use today. Learn how to create interface sounds for apps and games using SoundGen, build realistic AI logo mockups with MockupGen, add AI voiceovers to video and sync them properly, or figure out the fastest way to combine video clips with AI. The 2026 Best Picture slate is one of the most useful creative briefs of the year. Five trends run through it that apply well beyond film.

Literary adaptations are thriving, but the nominated ones aren't chasing plot fidelity. Hamnet and Train Dreams translate feeling first. Genre films are earning prestige nods, but only when the craft matches the ambition (Sinners, F1). Directors are driving the conversation over franchises, rewarding work that feels authored and full of deliberate choices. Intimacy keeps outperforming scale, even in the big films. And tactile, textured craft is the differentiator across the board: grain, shadow, real light, physical weight.
