Whether you have a busy lifestyle and don't have a lot of time to care for a dog, or you have a disability that makes caring for a dog challenging, we want to share a few lower maintenance dog breeds that may be right for you. A low maintenance dog is doing to require little to no grooming, and have smaller exercise needs than other dogs.
-
Basset Hound - These low-energy dogs are content to nap after the daily playtime session. They do shed a bit, so keep that in mind. Weekly brushing will help.
-
French Bulldog - These are not the types of dogs that can do long hiking session and need to be kept cool. They will be happy to cuddle on the couch with you after your daily walk and need minimal grooming.
-
Pug - Keep their wrinkles clean and take them for a short daily walk and you will have a best friend, content by your side as you relax on the couch after your busy day.
-
Greyhound - Despite common perception, these dogs are not high energy and will find themselves lounging throughout most of the day.
-
Dachshund - These stubborn dogs will need some training, and the longhaired varieties will need more grooming than others, but with their short legs, they won't need hours of exercise every day.
Every dog will need food and water, veterinary care, basic grooming, training, exercise, mental stimulation, and love and affection. So always be sure you can offer your dog these basics.
