Your sign to travel slow this summer Summer travel, especially here in Europe, tends to conjure images of crowded streets and too-full beaches. But I was recently reminded that it doesn't have to be that way. Last summer, journalist Maya Toebat traveled 3,000 kilometers north from Belgium all the way to northern Norway. After a month of sailing around Svalbard, a staggeringly remote archipelago where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Arctic Ocean, it was time for Maya to journey home. But instead of hopping on the next flight from Bodø to Brussels, she decided to take a solo train trip, camping and hiking as much as possible along the way. "I experienced the fjords, forests and mountains in a way that is impossible when you travel quickly," Maya reflected.
