MEET MARWAN KAABOUR,
GRAPHIC DESIGNER FROM BEIRUT

Marwan set out to sell tees with us to fund @takweer   – a platform he created to explore queer narratives in Arab history and pop culture. But he didn’t quite expect one of the tees to be a breakout star… Enter Bussy Cat.

Behind the Design

"The design is based around the cafe sign in Cairo. It’s meant to say ‘pussy cat’ but the letter ‘P’ doesn’t exist in the Arab language. So something got lost in translation with the designer and it ended up being ‘Bussy Cat’."

"Different people like it for different reasons. It might be the humorous mis-translation. It might be the fact it has a cat on it (and we all know how much the internet loves cats). Or maybe because it says ‘Bussy.’ I’m not sure if you know what that means, and don’t come for me if you’re surprised with the results."

"I keep getting sent messages of it from all over the world. I guess the bussy is taking over!"

Because we’ve just launched a new Ships Instantly collection. And there’s still no waste as we still only print what we sell. Can we get a hell yeah?!
