In May, we started the month with a shiny new iF Design Gold award for the Fairphone (Gen. 6). We received the trophy at a very glamorous ceremony in Berlin, alongside our design partners Above on stage. Honestly, the award set the tone for the rest of the month. Here’s why.

We’re proud to announce that our recently refreshed Fairbuds XL has officially scored an industry-leading 10/10 repairability rating from iFixit. It’s iFixit’s first time ranking headphones on repairability, and we’re proud to be the first-ever device to post a perfect score. With nine user-replaceable modular spare parts (including the battery), we continue to prove that premium audio can be built to last and easily maintained for years to come.

In association with Race Against Waste, we kicked off our first e-waste race event of the year, the first of 10 such events planned through the year across the Netherlands and the UK. This educational project challenges local schools to collect as much electronic waste as possible, teaching children about resource scarcity, reuse, and recycling, and directly supports our commitment to a circular economy.
