| Dear Fellow Genealogist,
Genealogy is a hobby for some, a passion for many—and a calling for a few.
Those of us who want to take our love of research to a higher level have several different outlets. We can study the family trees of others, either for money or for free. We can volunteer at local genealogy societies or libraries. Or we can join lineage societies like the Daughters of the American Revolution (or, in my case, the Sons of the American Revolution).
The latter is an especially poignant option as we close in on America’s 250th anniversary. In the latest episode of our podcast, I sit down with our digital editor Katharine Andrew. In addition to the brain behind this newsletter, Katharine is a professional genealogist and a member of the DAR. She covers how to use DAR’s databases in your research—whether or not you’re a member—and shares a little of her experience applying to the DAR.
We also share two other “pro” articles: one on using Ancestry Pro Tools, and another on research secrets that the pros know.
Feeling very professional,
— Andrew, Editor of Family Tree Magazine
