Hi there,
It’s been a minute. And while we’re not going to be that needy flower company that asks where you’ve been (we know we’re not your only friend!), quite a lot has changed around here since we last saw you.
The biggest one? We’re in Washington now—and we have a new Farmquarters. Our version of a headquarters, just a heck of a lot prettier.
We’re up in Gig Harbor, Washington, where we’re growing a very small amount of our own flowers—mostly for testing and product design—building gardens, and generally getting ourselves into far more growing projects than we probably have any business taking on. But it sure is fun.
That doesn’t mean we’re only using flowers grown here. Not even close. We still work with incredible flower farms all across the U.S., along with growers farther afield in South America and Europe, too. That mix lets us keep doing what we’ve always tried to do: find the most beautiful, interesting flowers we can from growers who are really, really good at what they do.
Here at the Farmquarters, we design every bouquet you see in our webshop, while also growing some pretty amazing varieties of dahlias, sweet peas, zinnias, cosmos, lilies, peonies, a frankly unreasonable number of garden roses and eucalyptus, and approximately 847 other things I decided we absolutely needed. Our own version of Tim the Toolman (also named Tim) built us a greenhouse that I spend far too much time in, and we’re learning an enormous amount as we go. Usually after doing something wrong first.
|
A few other things haven’t changed, though.
We still design everything in-house (well, in our design barn, that is) and make every bouquet by hand. We still obsess over finding interesting flowers you don’t see everywhere else. We still work directly with growers we believe in and whose values align with our own. We’re still bootstrapped, and still the workhorse company in a sea of (wannabe) unicorns. And fifteen years in, I’m still here, along with an amazing team of humans, and we’re all probably thinking about flowers considerably more than any normal team should.
So if it’s been a while since you’ve stopped by, consider this our little hello. There’s a lot growing around here, and we’d really love to show you.
xx, Christina
