No Trees No Seas

For thousands of years, the British Isles were home to vast forests that swept across the land to the sea’s edge.

Two separate worlds, divided by the shoreline....

In this flowscape the forests send life to the sea, and the sea gives life back to the forests. Not two separate worlds, but a single living system. Trees and seas connected in ways we’re only now beginning to understand.​

When we cut down the forests, we severed that connection. And our seas have been suffering ever since.​

Here in Cornwall, we are lucky to enjoy some of the last fragments of temperate rainforest left in the world. Places where ancient oaks line the riverbanks, their roots plunging deep below the tide line.

That’s why this World Ocean Day we’re kicking off a three-year program of financial support for No Trees No Seas – a Cornwall-born campaign spearheaded by Plant One, whose mission it is to heal our ocean by restoring the forests that feed them.
