There are few summer rituals we love more than wandering a farmers market on the weekend. Longtime Food52 readers might remember our Saturday Morning Market series, where we'd share our community’s favorite finds from the previous week alongside recipes to put them to good use. This edition of Tasting Notes is a nod to that tradition, with recipes, smart storage ideas, and some kitchen favorites to help you make the most of your haul.  

Whether you come home with a bunch of rhubarb or an overflowing basket of tomatoes, these are the dishes we'd make first. And if you're staring down a surplus of herbs, don't let them wilt. Instead, turn them into an herb oil or a magic green sauce that'll brighten meals all week.

Today we remember Liz Larkin, a beloved member of the Food52 community who passed away last month. Mrs. Larkin, known affectionately as the “Scone Lady” of Pound Ridge, published nearly two hundred recipes on Food52, including Royal Wedding Scones, Chewy Sugar Cookies, Cinnamon Scone Bread, and her famous Lemon Posset, which appeared in The Food52 Cookbook.

As Food52 founder Amanda Hesser shared, “Liz was a pillar of the Food52 community. She joined early on and quickly became a beloved figure with her inventive recipes and supportive commentary… while she had a deep knowledge of cooking and baking, she also understood that food has the power to bring people together.”
