I've said before that the outdoors is the best classroom we've got. Some of the most important things I've learned and the things I hope to pass on to my kids are learned outside. The outdoors teaches patience, awareness, self-reliance, and respect. Those lessons don't come all at once. They show up over time on a dock with a fishing rod, along a trail, or during a quiet moment spent paying attention.
Time outside changes people.
As a father, those moments have become some of the most meaningful parts of my life. Not because of what we catch or accomplish, but because of the experiences, conversations, and memories made along the way. In the end, the true reward is the adventure itself.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, mentors, and role models helping pass those lessons on.
