An unforgettable moment at Mont-Saint-Michel with my student Stephanie. Passionate about history and heritage, she had dreamed for a long time of discovering this mythical place. The weather was typically Norman: lots of wind, grey skies, a few drops of rain… but we managed to avoid the showers. And honestly, the Mont under this dramatic atmosphere was absolutely magnificent. We were accompanied by my partner Jean-Loup, who loves telling the history of Brittany and the region. Stephanie asked him a thousand questions in French! Du Guesclin, Surcouf the king’s privateer, Breton legends… the conversations were fascinating, and it was also a wonderful way to practice her French in a lively and natural setting. In the evening, after a delicious dinner at La Mère Poulard and its famous omelet, Mont-Saint-Michel slowly emptied of tourists. What a magical moment… We almost had the Mont entirely to ourselves.
À la semaine prochaine,

EXCLUSIVE FRENCH TIPS
1. In French, we say "dans" + the transportation inside which you ride (not "sur"). So we use 'inside', not 'on'. I am in the train (but 007 is on top of the train) 2. I love watching "Top Chef". Here is what I heard a contestant say the other day: "ça va venir vous boxer la glotte"... "la glotte" is the uvula, the little piece of flesh that dangles at the end of the mouth. I don’t know that it’s really a common expression, but I love it! 3. "Ce soir-là" = that evening "Ce soir" = tonight "Hier soir" = yesterday night "Demain soir" = tomorrow night 4. Watch out! "Je m’entends bien avec lui" = I get along with him "Je l’entends bien" = I can hear him/her well 5. "Les Ravens ont joué CONTRE les Patriots" = the Ravens played the Pats...
